Any information?

I'm looking for information about the Scholastic Production Company of Belfast who produced postcards in the 1930/50s period - possibly earlier and later. Nothing available online. Postcards that I collect include those by Maurice C. Wilks, Pat MacCormack, Terence Henry, L.Murdoch and Eva Porter. Predominantly Ulster landscape paintings or 'ethnic' type ones like the one below.

The company seems to have ceased trading in the 1950s, but what happened to all their original artwork etc? Somebody must know. I've tried all the obvious places such as the Ulster Museum, Royal Ulster Academy, Linenhall Library, and Ross's Art Auctions...

Re: Any information?

I've recently expanded my interest in Scholastic Productions to include all cards produced by the firm and added these two to my collection last week. I'm still anxious to hear from anybody who knows anything about Scholastic - no matter how trivial.

Re: Any information?

I like the art postcards by this Publisher, especially those by Pat Mac Cormack and Maurice C Wilkes.

Re: Any information?

I started off being attracted to Scholastic by the Maurice Wilks cards, but since have found the more obscure artists such as Eva Porter and David Livingston even more interesting. I have still drawn a complete blank in my search for more information about the various artists or Scholastic Productions Ltd.

I've just started down a slippery slope and made my first purchase of a Scholastic Real Photo card. Given that I came to postcard collecting through an interest in Irish Art rather than postcards, I don't know where this is leading. The Scholastic RP cards are nearly as scarce as their art cards, and are harder to pick-out from the mass of b/w cards on offer. As with the art cards, numbering is hit and miss with many cards carrying no number.

I've yet to discover any further information about the Scholastic Production Company, but I have recently been in touch with a Belfast newspaper and hope that they may do a piece for me looking for information. Do get in touch with me if you have any information - no matter how trivial!

wow! - indeed, this one would be hard to notice. Could you scan the back view as well please... it may help locate any others.

Re: Any information?

Just uploaded another Wordpress blog today devoted solely to the Scholastic Production Co.

Information is proving nigh impossible to find and even the postcards seeming to be getting scarcer - if that's possible! I'll be listing everything on the new site not just the cards in my collection.

Here's the address: https://scholasticproductions.wordpress.com
